Un sito per incoraggiare i giovani a usare il voto alle prossime europee
«Recepta refero», come dicevo altre volte.

(AE) YOUTH: Wrbsite to encourage youngpeople to vote
Brussels, 24/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 18 September, the VoteWatch Europe association, the European Youth Forum and the Ligue des Jeunes Electeurs launched a website to encourage young people to get more interested in European affairs and turn out to vote in the next European elections in May 2014. The site MonVote2014.eu is aimed at 18 to 35-year-olds and first-time European voters, explained Doru Frantescu, policy director at VoteWatch, adding that they would show voters things that might influence their vote but in an interesting, fun manner.
On the MonVote2014.eu website there is information about the work of MEPs and the possibility to vote online on 15 categories, which will then be compared with current MEPs to see which one or which party best represents the voter's preference. The fifteen categories include those that young voters are particularly interested in, such as a motion in parliament on the Youth Guarantee, controversial topics like the ACTA anti-counterfeiting agreement and the financial transactions tax (FTT). In the last European elections (in 2009), the proportion of 18-24-year-olds who turned out to vote was 29%, the lowest ever, compared with the 50% turnout for over-55-year-olds. There is the danger of a similar breakdown in votes this time too because, as Simon Hix, president of VoteWatch Europe and professor at London School of Economics, explained, many young people feel that Europe is to blame for unemployment so it will be interesting to see whether they vote en masse for eurosceptic parties.
